There are several ways to get tickets to see your favorite artist or band in concert when they visit your area or even in a city across the country. Some ways include the old fashion way of standing in line at the box office, but some of the best ways are on the internet.

The first step is finding out when and where the event will take place. To find information on upcoming concerts there are several great sources on the internet such as pollstar.com, livedaily.com and citysearch.com. Also many bands, theatres and venues have websites where you can subscribe to a mail list that will keep you up to date. The major box office websites such as Ticketmaster and Tickets.com are so have list you may join and do not forget the old fashion way of listen for announcements on your favorite radio stations. • Due to injuries that AERSOMITH frontman STEVEN TYLER sustained last week when he fell from the stage during a concert in Sturgis, S.D., doctors have advised him to stop performing in order to properly heal. The accident resulted in a broken shoulder and stitches for a wound on his head. Because of his condition, the remaining dates of Aerosmith’s tour have been cancelled. That includes the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame act’s show with ZZ TOP on Sept. 10 at Blossom Music Center. Ticket refunds are available at point of purchase. All individual tickets go on sale this Friday, August 21 at 10:00am for the first two shows of the 2009 – 2010 Broadway Live Season. Pearl Jam will be the last band to ever perform at the Philadelphia Spectrum when they perform their only east coast appearances at the soon-to-close arena on Oct. 28 and 30.

Comcast-Spectacor and Live Nation will celebrate the final months of the Spectrum with a series of final farewell concerts to say “goodbye” to America’s Showplace, the Spectrum.

Additionally, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, one of the most popular acts to ever perform at the Spectrum, will return to perform two more shows there before the building closes on Oct. 13 and 14.

“It’s really great to play a place with so much history and so much integration of culture,” said Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder when the band last performed at the Spectrum (April 28, 2003). “To be able to play the Spectrum is very memorable for us.”  Read more... (229 words)

Ticketmaster subsidiary TicketsNow has reached an agreement with the Illinois attorney general to shut down a number of Web sites where brokers sold tickets to popular events at markups.

Under the agreement, TicketsNow will pay $50,000 to Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s office following her investigation, which was spurred by consumer complaints over tickets to Hannah Montana and Bruce Springsteen concerts.

“Our investigation revealed that consumers who purchased concert tickets at TicketsNow Web sites often believed they were purchasing tickets from the actual event operators for their original value,” Madigan said in a statement.

“This agreement will substantially impact how the TicketsNow online brokers market popular event tickets so that consumers clearly understand that they are making purchases from a ticket reseller at marked-up rates.”

In addition to the more stringent rules regarding ticket broker identification, TicketsNow will no longer offer tickets to concerts on any of its affiliated sites prior to the Ticketmaster onsale date, the statement said.  Read more... (197 words)
