American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has managed to upstage Madonna and upset America with his latest performance – including a gay kiss and some crotch-caressing hanky-panky. During his three minute appearance at the American Music Awards this week Lambert managed simulating oral sex with a male dancer and a full on lip lock with his (male) keyboardist. A victory for gay visibility? – or just a tacky gay stereotype? The jury’s out. Regardless, the performance has racked up enormous media interest following 1, 500 complaints from viewers. It was the singer’s first post idol live performance to promote the release of his debut album ‘For Your Entertainment’ – presales of which has guaranteed the number one spot for Lambert this week. Controversy followed the 27 year old star the morning after the show when a scheduled follow-up appearance on Good Morning America was subsequently cancelled. “Given his controversial American Music Awards performance, we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning. ” Producers said. The cancellation annoyed fans and gay activists who claim the ABC network had no problem airing Madonna’s 2003 VMA performance which featured a three-way kiss with Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. In an interview with CNN Lambert claimed the sexual content had not been rehearsed and occurred in the heat of the moment. However he feels there’s a double standard within the entertainment industry. “Women performers have been pushing the envelope sexually for the past 20 years and all of a sudden a male does it and everybody goes, ‘Oh, we can’t show that on TV’. To me that’s a form of discrimination and it’s a double standard, and that’s too bad. ” For weekly gay news, chat and soundbites visit www. mand8. com Links for this story: http://music-mix. ew. com/2009/11/24/adam-lamber-good-morning-america-canceled/

Ticket brokering can be quite a prolific business, if done properly. It offers the advantages of a home-based business and, at the same time, it keeps you in contact with the noisy atmosphere. It can be a good way to earn a lot of money, especially if you are fascinated with the music industry, or you are a sports fan. In order to start such a business it is recommended to spend a lot of time researching. First of all you must find out if this business suits you and if it does look up for the domains in which you are interested (theater, concerts, sports). It is advisable to develop your business in the field you are specialized in, or at least you like it best. If you are not keen on sports do not try to become a sports ticket broker, because you may fail. After you have decided what you wanted to do you must look for the places where you can find the best tickets for the lowest prices. Going to the venues can be a good solution. Also, participating in presales can bring you good tickets, but for presales you need a password. The presale passwords are available, for free, on the internet, so you just have to look for them. Another thing that must you must know is which is the best site to sell your tickets. EBay, Stubhub, Craiglist are only few sites where you can list the tickets. Yet, each of them has both advantages and disadvantages. In order to make a good deal you must first evaluate each of the sites and choose the one which is more convenient. It is mistake to think that the research is over when you have listed your tickets on a site. Usually it is best to research for other ticket brokers’ price for the same tickets as yours and make sure that you are in the same line. You would not want the competition to ruin your prospects of getting rich. As you can see, research makes the difference between a good ticket broker and a less successful one. If you want to make profit out of this business you must be informed.

If you are a fan of a band or like any kind of music you are aware of the amount of money which is invested in concerts. What you do not know is that not only the artist and their staff have a lot to earn from concerts, but normal people can also take their share. Even if you find it hard to believe, you can also take advantage of a certain concert or even from your area and make some good money. If you are interested in how you can do this, read on! When a big band or famous artist comes for a concert the tickets to that event are sold in a matter of minutes. If you have the necessary information you can be one of those lucky people who can get tickets. And when you got the chance do not buy only one or two tickets, buy as many you think you can sell. Where can you buy the tickets from? Well, from the venue of the event or from the internet, attending the presale (in which case you need a password which can be found on the internet, too) or visiting Ticketmaster. Do not just buy what tickets you come across. Even though for certain concerts all tickets will be sold out, you can get a higher price for better seats. If the two sources have run out of tickets you can also go on eBay, Stubhub or Craiglist for tickets, but the prices will be higher and the chances of finding a good deal are reduced. If you got lucky this time and managed to find some tickets to the hottest concert of the year you should get them on the market as soon as possible. Fans will want to make sure they have a good seat at the concert and they will start to look earlier for tickets, so the sooner you make them an offer, the more chances you have to sell you tickets profitably. EBay, Stubhub, Craiglist and even fan-club sites are the best places to list your tickets on. If you know how to advertise your tickets you may get more that 50% profit for one ticket. A concert is a source of merriment for both fans and ticket brokers, so why wouldn’t you take advantage of the situation.

Quick question for all you concertgoers out there; how many times have you had to go through a ticket broker to get good seats to a concert or show? Chances are you have used a concert ticket broker more than once, and the reason for this was probably because you were unable to obtain good seats when the tickets first went on sale. In order to get the seats you wanted, you had to find somebody with the tickets and you probably paid almost twice as much as they cost! I’m going to be honest here. . . You are getting ripped off! How do you get the good seats these concert ticket brokers charge you double for? By buying them where and when they do! What you probably don’t know is that most concert ticket brokers get the great seats that they are charging you double for before they even go on sale to the public. That’s right, most concerts and events have presales, which typically occur online a few days before the tickets go on sale to the general public. However, in order to purchase these presale tickets you will need a presale password. Don’t worry though; these can be obtained online for a few dollars or even free! Once you have the presale password for the concert or show that you want good seats to, the process is simple. You simply log onto the website where the presale is taking place, enter the presale password into the space that is provided, search for your tickets and buy them before they even go on sale to the public! Tip: In order to ensure that you are getting the best seats available, open two browsers (ex: Firefox and Internet Explorer), perform two searches, and get the best seats! Congratulations! You have bypassed the middle man and will never need to pay double for good tickets again. Bye, bye concert ticket brokers.

Quick question for all you concert goers out there; how many times have you had to go through a ticket broker to get good seats to a concert or show? Bye, bye concert ticket brokers.

by: Christine Paluf

<a href="http://www.TicketNews.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"target=new>www.TicketNews.com — Performers are starting a new trend: canceling tickets that they find on reseller sites. Kylie Minogue this week joins the ranks of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, who may have started the trend with the cancellation of nearly 500 tickets sold during a presale auction on Petty’s fan club site in May.

Minogue insisted that the tickets found on eBay for up to five times their face value be cancelled, going head to head with eBay in an effort to stamp out reselling of tickets to her comeback concert at Wembley Arena. Minoque demanded the cancellation by the arena, so they can be resold.

The demand was so high for these London concerts, tickets disappeared in as little as five minutes.

The singer’s Web site cautions that fans be wary of Internet sales, saying the tickets may be lost, stolen or that the vendor may not even have any tickets. This was prefaced with a list of appropriate places to purchase tickets, including Ticketmaster as an approved vendor.

Not surprising, considering Ticketmaster had a hand in the cancellation of the Petty tickets as well. They also were involved with London’s “T in the Park” concert ticket cancellations, for some of the same reasons.

In order to understand where the performers are coming from, you have to look at this practice from both sides of the coin. The performers and promoters don’t like the fact that in a capitalistic society, the free market reigns. They’re not getting a cut of the markup –and the government isn’t either.

If there were no market for these tickets, the resellers wouldn’t sell them. Wholesale and resale, when you have something someone wants, you sell it to them, plain and simple, and keep the profit.

But in order to call this a free-market practice, there would have to be a free market in the first place, which implies competition. In the case of the primary ticket industry, it’s basically a monopoly.

Ticketmaster has exclusive contracts with over 70 percent of the clubs and theaters and over 90 percent of the large arenas in the United States. Their exclusive contracts make it so that whether or not the arena is independent, if the promoter of the event is contracted with Ticketmaster, the tickets must be sold exclusively through them.

The band String Cheese Incident tried their hand in 2003 at selling tickets directly to their own fans. They use their fan club to help fans avoid Ticketmaster’s myriad of charges, similar to Tom Petty and Dave Matthews’ arrangements. As a result of Ticketmaster’s monopoly on the venues that were sized for their fans, they were unable to play in San Diego. They tried to sue the mega-ticket giant for violating antitrust laws.

Ticketmaster countersued, claiming the band interfered with their contracts.

String Cheese Incident had been relying on ‘holds,’ tickets reserved for performers by promoters and venues. They could sometimes get them up to 50 percent of the house, and would then resell them for only four dollars in fees, according an article in The Philadelphia Inquirer, compared to Ticketmaster’s 30 to 35 percent markup.

Ticketmaster changed the rules to make it harder for bands to qualify for the holds, limiting who they could sell tickets to, and defining exactly what those conditions were. String Cheese and other bands were only able to get up to eight percent of seats after the 2002 change.

Incidents such as this and Pearl Jam’s suit against the ticket seller draw a scary picture. This is what happens when you cross a major company that is acting like all other media in this country, consolidating until there are very few choices for fans any longer.
