NCAA taking cut of re-sold CWS tickets
For years, many fans have been willing to pay more than face value for College World Series tickets. Now the NCAA is getting in on the action.
The NCAA and Ticketmaster have created a system called TicketExchange, which competes with online resale sites such as StubHub, Craigslist, eBay and others.
CWS ticket chairman Herb Hames said the system is a convenience for people who want to sell extra tickets at higher than face value. There is a link to TicketExchange through www.cwsomaha.com.
College athletics’ governing body hopes to generate revenue from its involvement with TicketExchange.
“There’s a secondary market out there, and I have no qualms about that revenue going toward college athletics,” said Dennis Poppe, NCAA vice president of football and baseball.
Sellers set a desired price, and if the tickets are sold, a check goes to the seller – minus 10 percent. That 10 percent is shared by the NCAA and Ticketmaster. There are other administrative charges.
Is Ticket Scalping All That Bad?
By mark.gimein – The Big Money
At the Beijing Olympics last year, A.J. Daulerio of the Deadspin.com sports Web site decided to try to get into what was supposed to be a sold-out boxing match. Beijing, as some people might remember, was the Empty Seat Olympics, so the idea that Daulerio would be able to get into an Olympic match at the last minute was by no means far-fetched. Daulerio made inquiries and set off to find a scalper, apparently not hard at all. The rub, though, was that Daulerio didn’t want to spend a lot of money on the ticket. He didn’t just want to get into the match—he wanted his ticket cheap: at face value. The reaction from the scalper to Daulerio’s woefully lacking offer? “I’d rather tear them up.”
New York State extends unrestricted ticket resale for another year
Ticket brokers in New York can breathe a little easier for another year. By an overwhelming vote of 133-9 on Monday, the New York State Assembly decided to extend the free market for ticket resale in the state for another year, meaning ticket brokers can continue to charge whatever the market will bear to resell sports, concert and theater tickets. The decision still requires the signature of Gov. David Patterson, who earlier in the year sought to tack on a 4 percent tax on ticket sales to help ease the state’s budgetary problems. He eventually scrapped the idea. Read More
Does The Mwc Have A Good Proposal For How A College Football Playoff (bowl Subdivision) Would Work?
1 Create a new way to determine which conferences receive automatic bids for the big money bowls. The current criteria weigh the BCS rankings of team in each league in which non BCS conferences have difficult time earning an automatic bis. Reason is BCS standings rely heavily on the USA Today coaches poll and the Harris interactive web poll in which the non-BCS teams don’t fair as well in the rankings
Here is the article explaining how MWC proposal would change ithttp://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story…
#2 Scrap the BCS standings
#3 Create a 12-member committee to pick which teams receive at large bids, and to select and seed the 8 teams chosen for the playoffs.
#4 The four current BCS BOWLS-Sugar, Orange, Fiesta, Rose- would host the first round playoff games under the proposal
The semi-finals would be hosted a week latter , with the current BCS Bowls given opportunity to host those games
The Championship Game would be hosted a week after that with a current BCS Bowl given the opportunity to host the game.

What Is Your ‘final Four’ Wish In The Nba This Season?
My wish:
LAL vs POR, Lakers win in seven games….
CLE vs BOS, Cavs win at home….
then CLE vs LAL – a sweep by Cavs with LeBron dunking on Bynum at least once… lol
Oh… if wishes came true….
But what is your WISH? Not predictions…. just for fun.
