When Taylor Swift burst on the scene several years back as a doe-eyed, blond-haired country/pop ingénue, no one would guess that she would become the international sensation she is today. These days, she sells out shows in the blink of an eye, has an unmatched Billboard track record and wins awards just by showing up to the ceremony. But Swift certainly works hard for it all ,and she’s also grown up before our eyes.

She released her first music video for “Tim McGraw” in 2006, and in her clips, she has managed to go from exploring high school romances to getting married and having kids, like in her latest one for “Mine.” The video’s director, Roman White, said “Mine” shows how much Swift has grown as an artist, a music-video star and a person.

When fans check out the video for Taylor Swift’s “Mine,” they will be quick to notice how fetching she looks in a wedding dress. And while she only donned the garment for the clip, directed by Roman White, that scene is what had everyone buzzing long before the video even premiered.

“The video is a story of a relationship,” Swift told CMT in the half-hour special that airs Friday night (August 27) at 8 p.m. ET, before the video’s premiere on MTV, CMT and VH1. “It really tells the story of these two people and the things that they go through and their life together.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Mine’ Video: The Other Teenage Dream

Taylor’s fantasy of marriage and family offers a very different vision from Katy Perry’s sexy romps.

It’s interesting that the premiere of Taylor Swift’s “Mine” video comes less than three weeks after the grand unveiling of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” clip. For all their differences, they are essentially about the same thing: the fantasies of young, thoroughly modern women.

Of course, those fantasies are about as different as the women presenting them. Perry’s “Teenage Dream” is very much about the immediacy of pleasure, of fun and sexy romps on the beach and uninhibited road-trip adventures. Swift’s version is quite the opposite: Hers is a dream buoyed by the satisfaction of the long-term, of a doting husband and towheaded children and white picket fences. They are two wildly dissimilar sides of the same coin: Perry wants to be free; Taylor wants a husband. And the one you tend to identify with probably says a lot about you.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Mine’ Recalls Pop-Culture Love Stories

Taylor Swift’s “Mine” video, directed by Roman White, travels forward in time as it tells a love story from beginning to end. But in its imagery, the clip also goes back in time, referencing some familiar moments in pop culture.

Kelly Clarkson’s “Because of You”: When Swift’s character remembers the fights her parents used to have, her memories mirror Clarkson’s attempts to exorcise the demons of her past to find love in her future.

“The Notebook”: Granted, any time fans of chick flicks see two good-looking people very much in love, they think of “The Notebook.” And like Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, Swift and her love interest, played by Toby Hemingway, spent some romantic time in a boat.

Forget Drew, the inspiration for “Teardrops on My Guitar,” or Joe Jonas, who sparked “Forever & Always.” When Taylor Swift sat down to write her latest hit song, “Mine,” she had a different dude, who remains a mystery, on the brain.

“I was reflecting back on a boy I liked at a certain time,” she told Rolling Stone about the tune, which will appear on her forthcoming album Speak Now. “The song is about what it would be like if I actually let my guard down.”

Speak Now comes out on October 25, and Swift is bracing for the onslaught of craziness that will ensue as the drop date nears. But she loves the chaos. “I’m obsessed with being busy. It’s hectic and nonstop,” she said. “But I’m so ready.”

Fans got a taste of what they can expect in Taylor Swift’s video for her Speak Now single, “Mine.” So far, we know she meets a cute boy (Toby Hemingway) and falls in love with him, and the two endure the ups and downs of being in love. The video’s director, Roman White, said that the clip features a lot of time travel, which would explain how those two crazy kids end up with kids of their own in the end.

“There’s a lot of time travel in this video, which is fun,” he told MTV News. “No DeLoreans [referring to the movie 'Back to the Future']! Time travel is horrible for the hair, but fun nonetheless … It’s evolving their family story.”

With fans eagerly anticipating the premiere of Taylor Swift’s “Mine” video, director Roman White — who also worked with Swift on the VMA-winning “You Belong With Me” and her VMA-nominated clip for “Fifteen” — said their latest collabo shows a more grown-up side to the singer.

” ‘Mine’ was a very hard song,” he said about the track, which will be featured on Swift’s October 25 release Speak Now. “The song has a lot of dark elements, but it also has a lot of happy elements. Taylor was extremely involved with this one from the beginning. We had lots of conversations about what it should be and moments and things like that.”

Taylor Swift Flashed Back To High School For VMA-Nominated ‘Fifteen’

The dreamy landscape of her “Fifteen” video had Taylor Swift recalling her high school days, when she thought she was in love with that guy she was dating and she didn’t know what would become of her life. And when she worked on the Best Female Video-nominated clip last year with “You Belong With Me” director Roman White, he wanted to capture the essence of the song without getting too literal.

“Well, I think I really wanted this video to kind of be an evolution for Taylor,” White said. “I mean, obviously it’s a high school song, but the last thing I wanted to do was shoot it in a high school. So I wanted to try something different, and I actually said to her, ‘I don’t think we should shoot in a high school.’ And I don’t think she wanted to either.”
