Along with popular theme parks such as Disney World Resorts, there are now a whole host of other new places to get familiar with. SeaWorld has a new water park called Aquatica, Universal Studios has a new motion simulator ride called the Simpsons and CityWalk has a new karaoke club where you’re the star. Universal Studios has a new ride opening this spring called The Simpsons at Universal Studios. The ride is based on all the characters you know from the show, join Homer and the family on their misadventures as they head out to spend the day at the fictional amusement park called Krustyland. This motion simulator ride is projected onto an 80 foot dome and gives you the feeling that you are actually in the car with the Simpson family as they go through the park and town. Also recently opened at Universal Studios CityWalk is their CityWalk’s Rising Star, a different kind of karaoke club where you can sing with a live band and back up singers. They also have a top 10 challenge where participants compete for park passes and other prizes. SeaWorld itself has many wonderful animal shows such as ‘Believe’ featuring Shamu and the rest of their Killer Whale family. There’s Clyde & Seamore Take Pirate Island – The Sea Lion and Otter Show which also features a huge walrus and Blue Horizons the new Dolphin and False Killer Whale show. Blue Horizons has a unique twist as it also includes beautiful birds and acrobatic fliers. If it’s a thrill you’re seeking Kraken is sure to deliver. It is the fastest roller coaster at any Sea World park and the first floor less coaster in this area, it twists and turns you all over, even going upside down, it also has a 145 foot drop. Special events like Viva La Musica, a Latin festival held on the weekends during the spring features popular Latin Artist and food, they also include Latin Dance demonstrations making this is one of the favorite places in Orlando to visit. Guided tours of the backstage areas of most shows can be arranged for additional fees. You can also schedule to have a meal with Shamu meaning you can eat buffet style backstage or poolside depending on which meal your prefer. The Makahiki Luau is a wonderful mix of food and fun featuring Polynesian food, rhythmic dancing and a fire dancing, even the kids get to join in at one point and try their hand at the rhythmic dancing, they have a special show at Christmas. Aquatica is one of the newest Orlando water parks and is part of the SeaWorld family theme parks, its a unique water park where you can play alongside the sea life. Set on 59 acres in the heart of Orlando, this water park offers you the chance to slide down an eight lane racing slide, relax along a lazy river or stretch out on a patch of their 80,000 feet white sand beach. Designed after the popular and much loved, Asterix comic by Goscinni and Uderzo, Asterix Park is a fun packed, enthralling theme park that suits the entire family. This amazing amusement park has something for everyone and therefore anyone who visits Park Asterix will go home with lasting memories. Managed by Compagnie des Alpes, Asterix Park opened its gates to the public in 1989. The park is positioned about 35 kilometres from the city of Paris and lies close to Disneyland Resort Paris which is also a famous amusement park in France. At one point the management of Asterix feared the prospective lack of business due to its close proximity to another theme park. However, on the contrary both parks eventually benefited together. Asterix theme Park is well known for its enthralling roller coaster rides. The park consists of 27 attractions, 6 shows and 7 adventure areas. The main highlight, Tonnerre de Zeus is a gigantic roller coaster made entirely out of wood. The track is 1230 metres long and 30 metres above ground. Tonnerre de Zeus or Thunder of Zeus is Europe’s 3rd longest wooden coaster. There is also the steel roller coaster named Goudurix. This roller coaster once held a joint world record for the most number of inversions. However, in 1995 Dragon Khan in Spain outdid Goudurix which is located opposite Tonnerre de Zeus. Yet another main attraction in Asterix Park is the Oxygenarium which is an outsized water slide. Other attractions include Transdemonium, la Trace du Hourra, la Galere, Menhir Express, Grand Splatch and so much more. This splendid 20 hectare theme park is open from April to October and can be explored within a day. Should your toddler get on the amusement park rides that are so inviting? Many parents wonder about the best age to introduce young children to the rides at theme or amusement parks that often attract children. While it may be tempting to buckle your little one for an exhilarating ride, give some thought to criteria like those outlined below to see if your child is truly ready for a mobile ride of this type:
1. Is your child the right size for his or her age? Extra-small or short kids may need to wait until they grow a little more to get on rides designated for their age group. Many ride operators will check the height of children, using a predetermined measuring stick, but if not, don’t let your little one get on a ride that is actually intended for bigger children. Injury could result, otherwise.
2. Does your child want to go on the ride? A toddler who appears frightened or uncertain should be permitted to wait until he or she is older. Forcing a child to go on a ride before he or she is ready is cruel and may delay a child’s adjustment to amusement park rides for years to come. It may be a good idea to take a sibling or neighborhood friend at the same time so your son or daughter can take along someone known to ease the strain of something new.
3. Go with your little one. Parents should plan to ride with a small child for comfort and protection. Don’t assume that forcing a child to go alone “will make him a man” or push him to “grow up” sooner. It may cause trauma that will last for weeks in the form of nightmares or anxiety.
4. Start with simple rides first. The merry-go-round or other age-appropriate rides can help to ease your child into the amusement park mentality. Seeing kids of the same age on certain rides will ease tension and encourage your child to join them for fun on a ride that should not be particularly fear inspiring.
5. Make sure the ride is as safe as possible. Look for the operator’s license and the last inspection date for the ride. Watch it go through one or two cycles before buying a ticket for a particular attraction. If it appears to go too fast, or is especially jerky, it probably isn’t a good idea for a young child to get on. Little ones can experience brain damage, or headaches at the least, when their small bodies are hurled from one side of a ride to the other, or dangled upside down. Make sure the ride will not hurt your child’s physique or security.
