With injuries and key players away for off-years, the team has now lost 101 games. Obviously, the pressure is mounting. Mariners president Chuck Armstrong’s response is a much needed one. In a recent one hour interview with MLB, he revealed his strong intentions to stay and work with the team until it achieves the success that it has enjoyed half a decade ago (from 1995 to 2003). The team’s poor performance has forced its management to re-look and re-think its battle plan. A long term strategy is needed. Armstrong is quick to admit that patience is key here. Therefore, he is in no hurry to locate the ideal GM candidate. The GM must be able to come up with fresh perspectives and help the team solve its problems and regain its former day glory. A whole list of over 60 potential candidates have been selected. Out of this list, only 10 have been short listed for interviews. The list will be further whittled down once the interviews are over. If Seattle Mariners are able to take the time to do every job in a similar fashion, success should just be a breath away. One can only wait with anticipation.
